Push The Needle –

The Atacama Desert, South America: [Mano de Desierto]:
This larger than life sculpture gives you an eerie feeling of human isolation and vulnerability. We’ve come a long way
. May your will to touch the sky never die
Land of the Rising Sun – Mt. Fuji (Blue Hour): Japan is filled with some of the most outstanding landscape sceneries, not the least of which is Mount Fuji during the midnight hour. In this image, brilliant light trails leading up to the mountaintop of Japans most iconic landmark give spectators a fiery display as climbers camp for the night.
Taiwan countryside = mountains galore. I was met with colorful lights emitted by a small fishing village on the east coast of the island. Thick low-hanging clouds were no match for the high mountains. I was lucky to locate the Polaris Star which is located directly above the northern pole. As Earth spins on its axis, the Northern Star remains fixed in one location giving us the impression that our sky is rotating in a circular, fixed position. You can see this awesome effect in the time-lapse footage on the first page.
I had to camp in my car for this shot but it was well worth the view.
Milky Way (Western Culture) | Vwa Lakte (Haitian Creole) | Silver River (Eastern Asia) | Backbone of Night (!Kung Bushmen Southern Africa) | Akash Ganga (Hinduism India) | Wodliparri (Aborigine Australia): Ideas of the “Milky Way” from different cultures around the world and yet we share the same capacity for imagination. We are unique but share a similar liking for wonders of the night sky – Even at 3am in the morning, the Suns powerful glow can still be seen approaching the horizon. I captured this image during a stargazing event.
No reason to fear the night when stars light your path.
Stars Will “Cook” For Billions Of Years Before Exploding, Releasing Their Inner-Guts (i.e., MANUFACTURED ELEMENTS of the PERIODIC TABLE) Into Outer Space.
Mano del Desierto: Camping in the Atacama Desert made me appreciate just how far we’ve come. Our goal to one day touch the Moon might have looked something like this long ago. I am hopeful that we will reach even greater heights — We’ve done it before.
Meteor Crater, AZ – When an astroid hits the Arizona desert, a 1.2 kilometer wide, 600 feet deep hole in the ground is what you’re left with. Check out the people who are standing on the metal platform for size comparison. Just goes to show just how vulnerable we actually are to space rocks.
This was also the site where Marvel Studios filmed a scene from the movie Thor where people from all over gathered near the center to try and lift the unmovable hammer.
Arizona Desert near the Meteor Crater Landmark – A shooting star is actually a meteor that didn’t quit make it past Earth’s protective shield. As the large space rock hurdles towards our planet, it’s met with strong air resistance from our thick atmosphere causing it to burn violently and emit a streak of light that we view as a “shooting star.” Not all of it will completely burn out however. The rock breaks up into smaller pieces and these pebbles usually hit the ground causing no damage.
**”good health” if you’re curious💫.
Atacama – Aim Higher, Always
A Sirius Moment | Sirius-A aka the “Dog Star” is the Brightest Star in Earths Night Sky.
Sagittarius and Scorpio Are Found In The Eye Of The Milky Way
Amateur Hour – Northern Lights In Iceland
Sunrise Aura
I know that many people aren’t that interested in Astronomy or space in general but if given a different outlet, who knows. The next Einstein might be that random person who became curious and started asking questions: What is a Black Hole, Where do colors come from, How fast is Light Speed, What is Space-Time? Einstein began by asking questions at a young age. His later discoveries changed the game on what we knew about gravity, space and time. Today, our communication satellites uses Newtons Gravity Theory and Einsteins Relativity to give us real-time gps signals. Science is awesome in a lot of ways if you give it a chance.
The large metal doors above open and reveal 4 giant laser cannons.
VLT | Paranal – Laser Guide Star System: The details on how this works is a lot explain so I’ll give you the short version – 4 Powerful Laser Beams fire into space creating an artificial star. Scientist use this bright beam to help focus hi-tech camera lenses in order to capture crystal clear images of deep space.
Before I began a shoot, I use a free mobile app called Stellarium to locate whatever I want to capture. I was able to find the exact location of the Andromeda Galaxy in the night sky by simply pointing my phone’s camera towards the sky and moving it around until the graphic and text appeared on screen. It’s fun and easy to use.
Every Star You See In Earths Night Sky Is Within Our Galaxy Alone, The Milky Way Galaxy. There are over 100 Billion galaxies in the universe but only 1 can be seen with the naked eye: M31 aka The Andromeda Galaxy. M31 appears like a hazy cluster of lights in the sky but in actuality, what you’re seeing is a cluster of about 1 Trillion stars.
Easter Island
Easter Island (Rapa Nui) – 🗿MOAI are deified Chieftains. Nearly 1,000 statues surround the small island; each one facing inland symbolizing the watchful protective eye of ancestors over the people. A local historian tour guide took a small group of us to visit Anakena Beach; their most sacred and well preserved landmark. Historians believe this was the site where the early Rapa Nui people first landed on the Island. The settlers were expert ocean navigators; using stars to map their journeys throughout the Pacific Ocean. The great Moai statues were sculpted as a ceremonial homage to Chieftains and village elders whenever they would pass away. Standing before the sacred monuments was a humbling experience to say the least and I was given the special privilege of capturing this image after nightfall.
Every journey will be unique. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to try.
